Technology

At The Dentist Pukekohe, our very experienced, trained team are able to assist our valued patients with dedication, compassion, and knowledge to make their visit as comfortable as possible. This section of our website is designed to keep you informed on some of the technology that we use and how it benefits your treatment and experience with us.

Bio Pak

  • The Bio Pak system allows you to objectively measure and document:
  • Muscle function using the EMG (Electromyography)
  • Mastication and mandibular range of motion using the JT-3 (Jaw Tracker)
  • Temporomandibular joint vibrations using JVA (Joint Vibration Analysis)

This is a way of assessing if you have jaw joint issues. It ascertains the location and severity of the problem.

Complex Motion Tomography Machine

Our machine has three processes:

  • Panoramic x-rays (x-ray of both upper and lower jaws)
  • Tomography x-rays
  • Cephalmetric x-rays

Both Tomography and Cephalmetric x-rays are used in looking at issues in the skull and jaw joints.

Lasers

1) Diode Laser - is used by our hygienist to treat gum disease and gingivitis. The laser kills bacteria and promotes faster healing of the gums.

2) Waterlaser - is used by our dentists to shape and change the gums, alter tooth structure, clean out fissures and can be used in surgery (the resulting wounds bleed less, heal faster and are less painful.

Intra Oral Camera

Our patients are able to see in their mouths up close, so our dentists are able to explain issues at the appointment time.

Air Suction Unit

Is a vacuum pump that sits over the mouth which is used to pull away the mercury vapour that occurs when we remove old amalgam fillings.

JVA

JVA or Joint Vibration Analysis allows us to listen in to what the jaw joint is doing. It helps us diagnose joint dysfunction.

Isolite Machine

The Isolite machine is a handy gadget that isolates the teeth when working, protects the cheek and tongue, sucks out saliva and debris from the mouth and lights up the mouth improving visibility.

Tek Skan

Is used to adjust bites the way your teeth fit accurately together.

Micro-etches

Prepares teeth surfaces for bonding.

Vacuum Former

Using a solid template that is moulded from each patient, our forming machine uses air suction to force hot thermoplastics into a desired shape. This is useful for creating custom whitening trays, mouthguards and retainers.
